Bride Wars- The summer me and all my friends got engaged!

Long delay of posts... but I'm going to blame it on the fact I got engaged! Along with me and my three closest friends... hahah.  But seriously me and my childhood best friends, Allie & Courtney, were all proposed to this summer. The best part, our wonderful fiances included us all in each proposal! Also newly engaged is mine and Patrick's best couple friends Jeremy and Mandy. Side note Mandy and I knew all the details of each other's engagement, the fact that neither of us spilled the beans is a pure miracle!

Allie's Proposal:

Allie was planning a birthday party for her and her then boyfriend Colton, however what she didn't know was that Colton had his best friend, give Allie the idea for the party. While Allie had everyone hiding Colton walked in and Allie yelled "Surprise!" while Colton dropped to one knee. While Allie had only invited Colton's closest guy friends he had invited her family and friends, and they snuck out of their hiding place to witness the engagement!

Mandy's Proposal:

Jeremy and Mandy make an annual trip with Mandy's family each year for Florida, why Mandy had no idea, we all knew this was when he was going to propose. Near the end of the trip, Jeremy had Mandy's two sweet nieces wake her up at sunrise. They handed her a note that read, "Where you invest your love, you invest your life." - if you can't tell Jeremy and Mandy are huge Mumford & Sons fans. Along with the note, Jeremy gave Mandy instructions to get out of bed, put on the dress he laid out for her, and come out to the balcony. From the balcony Mandy could see Jeremy had written in the sand, "Marry me?" Obviously she ran down and said yes!

Courtney's Proposal:
Michael, Courtney's fiance had a fantastic set up. He took court out on a night time boat ride for the evening. When approaching the shore, he told her he had a surprise for her, she thought it was a ring, he told her no it was only a lantern. As she was watching the lantern float up into the sky, he proposed. The coolest part was there were nearly 50 friends and family standing at the shore with lanterns that we all lit when we saw his float up. It was truly stunning.

Summer Shopping List

With the arrival of summer so does the desire for a new wardrobe.
Since the college budget doesn't allow for that I picked a few new key pieces that will provide endless new options.
First up pastel jeans-
Red jeans may have been all the rage this winter but for summer go with a lighter shade and perhaps a more summary cut.

Denim.
Denim on Denim on Denim.
Althougth previously known as the Canadian Suit- denim has came a long way since then- and if done correctly denim can be paired together. Take an example from these:

Chunky necklace.
What better way to add color than a bold bright necklace. Love these beauts:

Neon- take a hint from John Mayer  (Buzzing like Neon, Neon)
Nothing is hotter than neon right now. Add some to your wardrobe pronto- but remember a little goes a longggg way.

Dresses, Dresses, Dresses:
Pick up a cute dress that's breezy and fits you like a glove and you will try to wear it everyday. promise.

It's summer- go bold or go home.
Bring on the heat.

PR Powerhouse

2 words: Kelly Cutrone.

This woman is my idol. Normally I hate when people say this. Oh I love ( insert young pop artist name here), they are my idol. But in all sincerity I cannot think of a woman I admire more.

Background scoop:
Kelly Cutrone is the head honcho when it comes to fashion PR, well lets face it any PR. Cutrone went to school to become a nurse to please her parents wishes. Upon graduating she told her parents she did what they wanted and now she was doing what she wanted. Cutrone packed up and moved to NYC with nothing but her head on her shoulders in hopes of making a name for herself. Fast forward add a record deal and a run in with Michael Jackson and you have the PR Powerhouse Kelly Cutrone of People's Revolution.

So what is it about this woman that has me swooning? Well, with never of having the opportunity to met her, I consider this woman a second mother. While my own mother loves me an incredible amount she wants whats best for me, which in her mind is becoming something sensible, like am elementary teacher. Cutrone wants something for me to, to be abnormal and to listen to my own voice above all others. Cutrone's books, If You Have to Cry Go Outside, and Normal Gets You Nowhere  were written as if the small voice inside of me was the specific audience. Cutrone filled me with so much confidence and grew my  passion so much by the words in her book.

But that is enough of my ramblings, check out some of what I find to be some of her best advice to date:

- Also,  PR nerd alert I always watch an episode of Kell on Earth before an interview. If I can handle an hour of Kelly, I can handle the interview.
